Kootenai Amateur Radio Society’s repeater system consists of three linked repeaters placed in locations that provide coverage throughout most of Kootenai County.

Want to operate a radio? You will need a license, and that’s where we come in. Depending on the frequency band(s) you wish to operate we can help you get the license you need.

Free Online General Class License Course

A free, weekly, live, Amateur Radio General Class Licensing course on Zoom will begin on Thursday, October 30, and will run through Thursday, January 8 (9 sessions with no class on Thanksgiving or Christmas). The three-hour sessions will start at 6:30 PM Eastern Time. These are the classes that we have been holding for years sponsored by the Amateur Radio Club of the National Electronics Museum. Participants in the course should have or be studying for the Amateur Radio Technician license. Those wishing to sign up should email Rol Anders, K3RA roland.anders@comcast.net.

Now Kootenai Amateur Radio Society

On April 17, 1972 it was renamed and reorganized to better represent its member base throughout the county when the Constitution for Kootenai Amateur Radio Society was adopted.

Now Coeur d’Alene Amateur Radio Club

The club was later reorganized as Coeur d’Alene Amateur Radio Club on May 25th, 1960.

First Meeting

Originally known as the Coeur d’Alene Area Amateur Radio Club, the first meeting was held April 11th, 1952.
